Choosing a Character is Easy:

While Rifts has over 100 different character types, I have tried to limit the characters to human type of characters. This allows me a higher degree of freedom in my story telling and ensures a nice balanced game for all the players.

 

Here is a sampling of the characters we have.

• An Atlantean Tattoo man
• A Staphra Warrior woman (Like and Amazon)
• A Cyber Knight with his energy sword bringing justice to the world.
• A Human Mind Melter
• A Cleric gun master.
• A Monk

In preparation of choosing a character here are some examples to help give you an idea of the type of character you are interested in.

Here are some occupations:

• Technical Specialist - You are a skilled mechanic with specialized training in Starships, power armor, and computer based systems. Highly intelligent if not the best combatant.
• Medic - Nuf Said
• Space Warlock - Magic fighters well know throughout space. Use space spells which differ from standard magic making this wizards truly unique.
• Mage - A skilled user in Mystic powers
• Mind Master - A skilled user is Psychic powers.
• Power Armor Pilot - You are training and skilled in the use of power armor battle suits and space zero-G combat.
• Juicers - Live fast and dye young. Your body has been chemically enhanced for peak performance and the loss of durability. You may only live 10 years, but those 10 years will be like a lifetime.

  In some cases, all you need is a racial character class to get things going instead of a single race with an occupation. Here are some examples.

  • Necron Warrior/Witch - These creatures look like humans with no skin. They are strong in comparison to average humans and make fierce warriors and magicians. Just don't sit across from one if your eating. (Choose Witch or Warrior)
  • Xiticix Killer - You are a patchwork of genetic splicing and parts to form the ultimate bad ass weapon. You were designed to serve as a mindless killing machine, but over time your and you kin developed some sense of self. You may not be very smart, but when the other guy is crunched by you, do you really need word?
  • Staphra Warrior/Mystc - Like the Necrons, the Staphra are an ancient race. More like humans in appeaarnace, they have a dark side they keep well hidden from others. (Choose Warrior or Mystic)
  • Altress - These Uber humans are the culmination of selective breading and genetic engineering. Truly the master race, even if they are outlawed on most worlds.

   

  So think about the type of character you want to play. From there it is as simple os rolling some atributes, choosing some skills and powers, and a name.
